Abstract:

For some university with distinctive industry characteristics, determining the appropriate list of foreign-language core periodicals is very important. Usually most university librarians simply rely on JCR, but this will cause on several problems such as a heavy workload, difficult to highlight the professional characteristics and omission of some journals in interdisciplinary section. Taking China University of Petroleum(CUP) for example and according to its professional academic analysis, this paper analyses all CUP’s theses in foreign-language core periodicals, such as references, citing articles, provides a more practical way to select the professional foreign-language core periodicals from the user's point of view comprehensively.
