摘要： 图书馆是重要的公益性文化机构．在保障人民群众的基本文化权益、实现社会公平正义、提高公民的综合素质、促进民主法治建设、增强民族的发展活力、实现人与自然和谐相处等方面发挥着重要的作用，在构建社会主义和谐社会中扮演着重要的角色。从四个方面论述了图书馆在构建和谐社会中的作用，并就如何发展图书馆事业、促进和谐社会建设提出了一些针对性措施。

关键词: 和谐社会图书馆事业图书馆功能中国

Abstract: Library is an important communal cultural institution,which plays a key role in protecting the people＇s basic cultural rights and interests,in realizing social fairness and justice,in improving the overall quality of the citizens,in promoting the construction of democracy and the rule of law,in strengthening the energy of national development,and in achieving a harmonious coexistence between man and nature.Also it plays an important role in building a socialist harmonious society.This paper discusses the role of library in building a harmonious society form four aspects,and puts forward some targeted measures to develop library cause and promote the construction of harmonious society.
