Abstract:

This paper analyzes the status of the service for elder readers in public libraries with respect to service content, cooperation, and performance, based on the real cases from 25 public libraries in Pearl River Delta. Then it investigates the utilization, frequent service, literature reading, and satisfaction of elder readers. Finally this study proposes some strategies to extend the service for elders, such as establishing reasonable service systems, survey on their cultural demand, diverse activities for reading promotion, more focus on social cooperation and introducing mechanisms to involve elder readers.
