The Cross-over Analysis of the Individualized Information Demand of Chinese Academics Based on Academic Titles

Abstract:

This paper makes a study on the characteristic of personalized information demand of the Chinese scientific research personnel with questionnaire, interview and the cross-over analysis. The result shows that academic title plays the critical role on information demands, information demand presents certain regularity with the change of professional title, associate professors demonstrate their active demands and vital behaviors, the training need is decreasing with titles, teaching assistants know the literature reminder service best and the usage is the lowest, professors and associate professors use the literature reminder service better, the demand for personal digital libraries of teaching assistants and lectures are below associate professors and professors, there is little difference in demand for thematic intelligence services and the demand of professors are the lowest.
