Abstract: This article analyzes various types of data, including library space, financial resource, personnel, collection of books, book circulation,etc,obtained during the period of 1989 to 2004 from ten public libraries and from a few hundred smaller libraries of local communities and villages in Nanchang. The author attempts to provide an objective and complete overview of the developmental patta of me public libraries within this region and to present some thoughts and possible approaches for future innovation and development in the management and services of the hbrary.
