Abstract: In October,2008,Library Service Manifesto is formally promulgated by Library Society of China, it is a serious commitment of Chinese Libraries to society. Under this background, this paper analyses the role of reference librarians and puts forward that they play an important role in library service.The author thinks that the reference librarians should become the shapers of good social image of library and the practitioners who improve the social status of library.
