Abstract: Core competence is the important guarantee of library survival and development.This paper summarizes the contents and characteristics of university library core competence,expounds the roles of subject librarian in constructing uni-versity library core competence,and puts forward that university libraries should strengthen their core competence through establishing subject librarian systems,consolidating incentive mechanism,improving subject librarians’ ser-vice level.
