A New Reading Paradigm:Retirees-Based Human Library Developed by Public Library

Abstract:

Human Library is a new kind of innovative reading service in public libraries, which is flourishing at home and abroad over the last few years. Retirees-based human library with their knowledge can achieve win-win among librarians and libraries, which has far-reaching meaning for harmonious construction of the ageing society. This paper explores the significance, new characteristics and advantages of the paradigm service and suggests that public libraries can construct and implement the new reading paradigm of retirees-based Human Library in the following way: set up catalog systems for Human Library, strengthen training and guidance, have inter-library social cooperation, borrowing circulation and assessment feedback.
