Conservation of Books Rebound from Stitch Binding to Hardcover Binding During the Republic of China

Abstract:

This paper introduces the conservation plan of Feng Shuang Fei(newly printed), and analyzes the reason why once ancient thread-bound books were made into hardcopy-bound book, discusses the characteristics of this kind of binding and the conservation plan that should be applied. The paper also points out that when deciding the conservation plan, it is the most important that a conservation plan should be based on the conditions of the damaged book but not only the conservation principles and standards.
