Research on the Influence of Work Environment for the Public Librarian’ Working: Taking Chongqing as an Example

Abstract:

Based on previous studies, the paper makes cluster sample survey of 420 librarians in 20 public libraries in Chongqing, and researches the influence of work environment upon librarian’ job burnout and organizational affective commitment. The results indicate that the working environment, especially the social links, the social rewards and the values factors are important reasons for librarian’ job burnout; librarian’ organizational affective commitment depends on the social rewards and values in work environment; job burnout is limited to explain of it. If we put more attention on these factors that librarian work attitude will change better and the service quality of libraries will be effectively improved.
