Abstract: Bookmarks are important appendages to traditional books in China.They play an important role in highlighting titles,guiding and consulting in the production,dissemination and reading of classics.From the perspective of book history,based on unearthed and handed down documents,the investigation of the shape and evolution of bookmarks in various periods found that bookmarks originated in the period of the bamboo slips,in the form of tags tied to ancient books or books appear.With the change of book binding format,there was a new form of voluminous label,package title label and shaft label in the scroll period.The album period developed into a face label,and gradually developed from the original logo function to the both logo and decoration.
