Abstract: On the basis of summarizing the concept and classification of index and book content index,this paper focuses on the function, value and organization principle of book content index. Based on the analysis of the big data of millions of books published in China,this paper discusses the current situation of book content index falling behind in an all-round way and puts forward the strategies of promoting the rapid development of book content index from five aspects of the country,industry,practitioners,technology and readers.
