Research on Social Reading of College Students and Reading Promotion of Academic Libraries

Abstract: Social reading is a new reading mode formed by integrating social media into digital reading.It takes readers as the core,emphasizes on sharing,interaction and communication,pays more attention to the reader interaction,and advocates generating contents by users.This paper investigates the social reading behaviors of 280 students in four colleges or universities in Guangdong and summarizes their behavior characteristics,and finally put forwards four suggestions for the reading promotion of academic libraries:form multi-dimensional social reading platforms;provide fragmented and specialized reading resources;look for ambassadors for reading promotion;guide college students to read in depth.
